| Frequently Asked Questions |
| Q: | Do I have to enter into a contractual arrangement with CaterBuy? |
| A: | No. Members are not asked to enter into any financial arrangement with CaterBuy Ltd. Members enjoy increased purchasing power at no cost to their organisation, but without any complicated agreements with CaterBuy. Members are free to use any, or as many as they choose, of the listed suppliers on the terms stated, or to cease using them, at any time. |
| Q: | How does CaterBuy select their suppliers? |
| A: | Quite simply, We shop around. Price is very important but so also are the quality of products and the service our Members receive as customers. As suppliers do not pay us to be listed in our Directory, we are unhindered in our quest to provide our Members' with the best products, at the best prices, from the best suppliers giving the best service. |
| Q: | The Supplier directory/pricelist does not list a product I buy regularly. Does this mean that the CaterBuy suppliers do not offer that product? |
| A: | The Directory is simply a time-saving extract of each suppliers' range of products. Many other lines and alternative brands are available at competitive prices to our CaterBuy Members and each supplier will advise you on prices for other products and alternatives on request. If you have a need for a particular product please call our Office - we will do our best to assist you. |
| Q: | Am I restricted to buying only specific brands in some Product Categories? |
| A: | Most certainly not! Whilst we may have secured preferential prices on some Manufacturers' brands (which we would promote as being good value for money) We do not believe in 'product barring' - our Members are totally free to buy any of the products stocked by the CaterBuy suppliers. |
| Q: | If the service is free to Members, how does CaterBuy stay in business? |
| A: | The administration costs for managing CaterBuy are financed entirely from a commission that CaterBuy receives directly from the listed suppliers: over our range of suppliers, this averages around 2-3% of net turnover. |
| Q: | Although sound purchasing is really important in achieving our Budget Targets, there are a number of other areas in which I would like some advice from time to time. Does CaterBuy offer any other services? |
| A: | Yes. Although our main service is to provide professional purchasing, We have available a wealth of practical and operational management experience which we offer separately to assist you in a variety of other areas. Our team of professionals offer specialist advice on all aspects of catering, including: |
| |
Members may call us at anytime to discuss their requirements to see where we could assist. Should we need to make a charge for any of those additional services, we would agree fees in advance with our Members. | |
| Q: | I really appreciate the service I receive from some of my current suppliers, many of whom supply regionally or locally, and I would still like to give them some business. As a CaterBuy Member where do I stand? |
| A: | As a CaterBuy Member you have total freedom at all times to use whichever Suppliers you choose, whether or not we have negotiated preferential terms for our Members with those suppliers. We recognise and respect that many Members will wish to use other suppliers, especially for products that they wish to source locally, and may only wish to use one or two CaterBuy suppliers. |
| Q: | Will CaterBuy achieve savings for me on all my purchases of food, non-food and equipment? |
| A: | All our previous new Members have enjoyed savings, although to be sure we need to do a detailed price comparison for you to consider - which we are always pleased to do! The deals that we have negotiated are competitive across very broad product ranges, rather than obtaining exceptionally cheap prices on a small listing of products (as many of our competitors do). It is possible that you may receive better prices on a handful of products. However, on typical week-to-week purchasing we expect to be able to demonstrate a cost saving for you. Be assured though, that we will always give you an honest and truthful appraisal of the areas where CaterBuy terms will be of benefit to you. |
| Q: | Do I pay CaterBuy for the goods that I purchase? |
| A: | No. Each Member settles their accounts directly with each of the suppliers. Typically we find that Cost Sector clients wish to remain in control of their purchasing and do not wish to sign 'open ended' Direct Debits with external organisations. |
